About Me

tom bihn on the trail 1

I was born in The Bluegrass State in 1985, and grew up in Lexington, KY with a few stints across the pond in Austria and Ireland (thanks to an economics professor father on a 7 year sabbatical rotation). After 4 years competing for the top debate program in the nation at Western Kentucky University, I laid down roots on the left side of my home state.

I entered the rough working world as a coach for that same debate program (it seemed a shame to leave so soon). My job duties included going on the hunt for obscure communication theory articles and convincing college-age students their voices mattered. After working for WKU for three years, I moved back to Lexington and started working concurrently at a web marketing firm and a local, cooperative grocery store. From 2011 through the Summer of 2014, I worked in various departments and in many capacities at Good Foods Co-op, everything from front-end to customer service and ultimately as a manager. In 2014, I left the more operational side of my retail gig for more creative pursuits in Good Foods’ marketing department. Here I managed web and social media content, assisted with the design of internal and external advertising, wrote copy, and did my part to promote local food, farmers, and folk.

I have long loved scrolling through blogs of all sorts. So, while living and working in Lexington, I decided I’d give it a go myself and started Finding Delight. I chose the name in honor of the mantra I adopted several years prior. FIND DELIGHT. (Here’s my very first post!) I continue to live life in the pursuit of delight, honoring life’s simple and unexpected pleasures, and this blog has helped me to do so in so many ways.

My husband and I now live in Miami, FL with our ragdoll cat, Wink. Currently, I am working as a freelance writer and side-hustlin’ at a local wine shop. I love yoga, watching documentaries, reading books, and going on outdoor adventures.

Please feel free to drop me a line at ebeth.berger@gmail.com if you have any questions or just want to say, “Hello!” You can also find me on Twitter and Instagram.

About Finding Delight

header experiment 2

Founded in March 2014, Finding Delight is a lifestyle and lifelong learning blog with a focus on books, budget, brainpower and all the beautiful stuff you can find if you really look. Visitors can expect to find…

Intellectual posts, such as a profoundly moving documentary, power poses, how I track my reading, and the nerdiest Twitter account I love following.

Book posts, including a recommendation, the best books to read if you love Kentucky, and my virtual book club series (including this rare female road narrative and an exploration into why life gets better for outsiders after high school).

Style & Design posts, like a cool poster round-up, how to choose a wedding dress, and a review of this awesome backpack. Plus, a 50 piece all-season capsule wardrobe and an unboxing of one of my Stitch Fix deliveries.

Food posts, including Cincinnati chili, meal planning for beginners, 5 ingredient broccoli soup, an autumn appetizer, energy protein balls, and my feelings on food culture.

How-to posts, including how to tackle that unfinished project, how to eliminate decision fatigue, how to be an expert air traveler, how to invest in yourself, and how to make pocket letters! (Plus, how to justify drinking a ton of wine!)

Budget & Career posts, such as four career building tips for the newly hired, the best pep talks, saying you’re welcome, and the ballin’ on a budget series.

And personal posts, including turning 30, my thoughts on public transportation, how my fiance popped the question (and where we’re getting married), my reverse bucket list, returning to high school, my take on grief in the age of social media, and what happened when I stopped paying women compliments on their appearance.
