mid-week round-up

What’s going on this week? The countdown to Christmas is truly ON!! We had a wonderful long weekend in Louisiana visiting with Chet’s family. (We also ate all our favorite local specialties, saw the lights at the local zoo, and went to the movie theater to watch the new Spiderman movie — highly recommend.) We’re off for round 2 of holiday travels this weekend so for the next few days I’ll be running around like a mad woman trying to get everything done. Hope your week is a bit calmer than mine, and here are some links I’ve been reading this week…

Day of the Girl at BLUME!

meet blume day of the girl malala fund

Just wanted to quickly pop on to let you guys know about a company I love, supporting a cause I ALSO love.

Blume offers safe, sustainable period products and lets you build a customizable box with everything you need to make your time of the month more bearable. You start with the base box that works for you. Choose your products, add-ons, and the frequency. They take care of the rest.

And the Malala Fund is an international, non-profit organization that fights for girls’ education. It was founded by Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, and her father, Ziauddin.

[You can read more about Malala’s story in THIS POST.]

Today, Blume is donating ALL profits to the Malala Fund in honor of Day of the Girl, so head over to www.meetblume.com to help make a difference. Boxes start at $11/month (and I especially love their PMS oil).

So I had a link post ready to go up on Wednesday and totally forgot to publish it. I guess that’s what happens when you go on a little mid-week trip to Delray Beach. Whoops! Our friends Carrie and Ganer (who visited us last week in Miami) were on the second leg of their Florida vacay and graciously invited us for some extended fun at the beach. We jumped at the chance, and had so much fun eating tacos, lounging in the sand, and collecting seashells. Carrie is an extremely talented photographer (she’s shooting our wedding!!) and asked if Chet and I would like to do an evening couples shoot by the water. Ummm, YES PLEASE! Pictured above is a little preview. I can’t stop looking at them! Those colors!!! Go check out Carrie’s site  —> Sur La Lune Photography —> she does INCREDIBLE work.

Anyways, I thought I’d go ahead and pop up these links for you (a couple days late), share a few photos, and get back to regularly scheduled programming on Monday. Have a great weekend!!!

mid-week round-up

Hey friends! What’s new? This past weekend we finally made it through a work event that we’ve been planning since last summer. Glad to have it off the calendar, and it went really well! Today, I have to go to the dentist (womp!) but I’m also planning on giving one of those new S’mores frappuccinos a try. After of course (don’t tell my dentist though)! But the biggest news from the past week is definitely that my boyfriend Chet is NOW OFFICIALLY A DOCTOR! He completed his PhD!!! I could not be more proud and happy for him. Have you gotten some exciting news this week, too? Do share! And here are some links for you to enjoy…

Carol Rossetti’s colorful illustrations of female empowerment.

rossetti5

By now I’m sure you’ve seen these empowering illustrations by Carol Rossetti but I thought I’d share just in case. Rossetti, a graphic designer from Brazil, began posting these colorful gems on her Facebook page to highlight the stories of real women she’d encountered. She answers the oppression within each situation with encouragement. In this way, they serve as a sort of declaration of women’s corporeal autonomy. And I think they’re really rad.
