mid-week round-up

What are you up to this week? Tomorrow we’re hittin’ the road for our big move to Alabama! I’m so excited that moving day is finally so close. Getting ready for a move (especially one you’re super stoked about) just seems to drag on and on. We’ve been slowly packing and cleaning and tying up loose ends ever since we found out about the new job so I am READY. Next time I post we’ll be in the new place! Wish us luck. xoxo

Hello there! How’s your week so far? Chet and I finished watching season 7 of Shameless, and are happily making preparations for a mini-vacay to Delray Beach. Also, I got my oil changed this week. Is it weird how much I love drive-thru car maintenance? (It’s just so convenient to stay in your car!) Hope the rest of your week is as awesome as you, and here are a few links for your Wednesday enjoyment…

“The material culture of girls’ lives — particularly what they wore, and what that meant — can reveal much about their surprising agency in the patriarchal past. First Communion dresses, past and present, reflect status, wealth, and a commitment to faith, but they also tell us much more. They remind us not to dismiss as ridiculous or frivolous the material lives of girls and women.”

What are you up to this week, friends? I’m hoping to head to the beach tomorrow and relax with some new library books (and maybe a margarita). It feels like Summer should be winding down but here in Miami the temperature tends to disagree. I have a feeling there’s still plenty of beach possibilities ahead. Also, I’m thrilled with how all our wedding posts have turned out. If you’d like to have a browse through all of them you can do so HERE. Thanks to everyone for being so sweet about my rampant over-sharing. Ok, now onto some links…

What’s new in your world? Inspired by our recent foray into “local park as personal backyard,” we nabbed a sun-shield from Amazon. Hoping to use it this weekend to extend our visits to the beach or park without baking in the sun (or getting in low-key fights with strangers over the public umbrellas, lol). Thanks for stopping by today! While you’re here, check out a few links…

How’s everyone doing today? We spent the weekend and last couple days without internet but I’m happy to report that it has made a triumphant return. We joked that we were living in prairie times. Luckily we had DVD’s for entertainment and a library to schlep to in order to get some work done. It’s funny how reliant we become on this one little thing. I felt like a whiny child who got a toy taken away! Something to think about. I’ve always harbored a slight desire to institute a technology-free weekend once a month. Now I feel it’s a must! Could I even do it? Could you? Anywho, since we aren’t there yet, enjoy these links brought to you by TECHNOLOGY…
