My Dream Jewelry Capsule

*This post may contain affiliate links.*

When it comes to curating a personal look, I tend to invest most of my efforts and money into the main body of my wardrobe. You know – coats, jeans, blouses, tops, and a whole array of different shoes. When it comes to accessories, I’m a sucker for bags and scarves.

However, something that can really add a little je ne sais quoi to your look? Jewelry. Jewelry can function as a signature item that will add a personal touch to whichever ensemble you might have chosen that day. Sometimes it really is the little touches that count.

It’s these little touches that I’d love to start focusing on. And YOU KNOW I love a good capsule. A capsule helps you focus on building a collection without going overboard. Below, I’ve highlighted my favorite types of jewelry and a few options for each.

Here’s what I’d include in my JEWELRY CAPSULE —

Watches

Option 1 // Option 2 // Option 3

Statement Earrings

Option 1 // Option 2 // Option 3

Diamonds

Option 1 // Option 2 // Option 3

TIP: A key piece of advice to bare in mind when buying diamonds is to know what you’re talking about before heading into a shop. Take a read through VVS diamonds information at Whiteflash. A little knowledge can go a long way and will ensure that you are getting the right kind of stone for your money.

Birth Stones

Option 1 // Option 2 // Option 3

Handcrafted Pieces

Option 1 // Option 2 // Option 3

Pearls

Option 1 // Option 2 // Option 3

TIP: If possible, opt for artificial pearls. You generally cannot tell the difference and it makes your jewelry cruelty free

What about you? What are your favorite types of jewelry? What dream piece would  you love to splurge on if you had the chance (and the extra cash)?

My 3 Wardrobe #LifeHacks for Unique Style on a Budget

*This post may contain affiliate links.*

Creating your own unique style can be hard to do, especially when you’re on a budget.

For a lot of us out there, we have droves and droves of clothes piles, but still feel like we have nothing to wear. However, without the bank account to replace these tired duds, the idea of throwing ’em all out to start anew doesn’t seem in the cards.

A massive wardrobe overhaul takes time and effort, not to mention some serious dough! So if you want to create a new and unique style on a budget, here’s the advice you’ve been looking for.

Don’t Be Afraid to Cut and Chop

When you’ve got some clothes stuck right at the back of your wardrobe that you haven’t worn in a very long time, it’s time to scoop them out and start restyling them for the current era. So whether you’ve got a pair of flared jeans you know wouldn’t be seen outside of 2008, or an old cardigan you know you wouldn’t even want your grandmother to wear, research ways to re-purpose.

Turn a tired tee into a comfortable dress. Cut the flares off of those jeans and re-hem them into the cropped, ankle-length style everyone’s been lovin’ this season.

Shop Online

Shopping online offers you the variety and choice you won’t get when pounding the pavement. Not to mention, clicking around is WAY faster.

Check out vintage Etsy shops or vintage style pieces from ModCloth, whole shops dedicated to one kind of style or genre, or custom services like the one that can be found here. A few original pieces will go a long way when rebooting your style.

Focus on Accessories

Any tired and old wardrobe can be made to feel unique again with the addition of a new bag or pair of shoes. And a jewelry box is a lot cheaper to update than a whole closet. Invest in a few current accessory trends and you’ll be amazed at how refreshed your look will feel — especially when you pair these new pieces with classic wardrobe staples

Lately I’ve been loving Le Tote as a way to keep my accessories up-to-date without having to worry about what to buy. I just get a new accessory each time they send me a box, I wear it a few times, then send it back! [Click here for a free tote.]

But I want to hear from you! Do you have a ton of clothes but still find yourself wanting an updated style? How do you create a unique wardrobe on a budget? Tell us in the comments so we can learn from you!

The prettiest iPhone cases.

My trusty, goes-everywhere-with-me iPhone is in need of a new outfit! She’s currently cloaked in a plastic white case adorned with a mandala-inspired elephant. But! I’ve been on the hunt for an updated look and have now found so many lovely designs that I can’t seem to choose! Which is YOUR favorite???

Shopping my closet!

There’s a few reasons I’ve felt less than inspired by clothes the last month. 1) I’ve been working from home. 2) Florida is HOTTTT! The less clothes the better, HEY-OOO! 3) Buying a bunch of new pieces really hasn’t been in my budget. So, just for fun I decided to have a nose-around through the ol’ closet and dresser drawers and see if I could come up with a few outfits to be excited about.  My goal was to put together 4 looks for ME. 4 looks that would meet my day-to-day needs, so I’ll actually wear them, and made up of 4 components, so I can get out of the shorts + top look I’ve been over-wearing as of late. I’m not saying these ensembles are on trend by any means or advocating for you to replicate them. (I realize it’s actually Fall in MOST of the U.S. and not a million degrees like these pieces would have you believe, lol.) However! I DO recommend a rifle through clothes you already own if you’re stuck in a bit of style rut. You no doubt have WAY more options than you think. And if nothing else, it’s kinda fun to play dress-up!

Backpacks make for happy backs. <3

tinybackpack

So, awhile back I dug this old backpack out of my closet. I don’t recall what prompted me to do so, but as I wore it around while running errands that day, a light-bulb went off in my head. It was so comfortable! Before, on long errand expeditions or outdoor events there would always be that turning point where I would get a little grumpy simply because I was carrying a heavy bag on one shoulder. Everything would feel out of whack and no matter how many times I switched my bag back and forth it would just remain uncomfortable. But now, as long as I’m not in dress-up or professional attire, I rock my tiny bag. I love being hands free on outings. I love being able to carry all my necessities (wallet, keys, phone, liter of water, snacks, book, notebook–I take preparation for potential boredom and hunger vAAAry seriously) without feeling bogged down.  It’s sort of become a trademark and I love telling people my tiny bag is for all my tiny things! ❤

Backpack to the Future Backpack

Which would you choose? Do you like sportin’ a backpack? My friend Katie said when she started a new job her co-workers gave her a hard time for hers but now they’ve seen the light and are carrying them regularly. True converts!
