The Book Drop: Subscription Service Review

I discovered The Book Drop totally by accident. I was researching a ton of bookstore websites to put together a website redesign proposal for a client. Looking over the Bethany Beach Books website, a tab marked The Book Drop caught my eye. I clicked on it. “Bringing the independent bookstore to you,” it said. Thoroughly intrigued, I dove in deeper to discover it was a book subscription service. Getting new books in the mail AND supporting an independent bookstore?! SIGN ME UP!

I’m wildly indecisive, so the idea of a small bookstore owner actually selecting my book for me really appealed to me. I decided on the Books for Tea and Coffee subscription which rotates every other month between historical/contemporary/literary fiction selections and thriller/suspense selections. You can read more about all the subscription options HERE.

Every Package Includes:

  • 1 hand-wrapped trade paperback book
  • A note about why the book was selected
  • Indie Next List which highlights new books that independent bookstores & booksellers LOVE

and Most Packages Include:

  • A letter from the author
  • and an autograph (!) – either in the book or on a bookplate

You can select to pay month-to-month, or subscribe in 3 month, 6 month or one year installments. The 6 month subscription is just $99!

To give you an idea of what kind of books are selected, here’s a quick rundown of the last few months —

The Braid by Laetitia Colombani
Books for Tea

In this unforgettable international bestseller, three women from very different circumstances around the world find their lives intertwined by a single object and discover what connects us—across cultures, across backgrounds, and across borders.

A Noel Killing by M.L. Longworth
Books for Coffee

Christmastime in the South of France is as beautiful as ever, but when a shady local businessman drops dead in the middle of the festivities, Verlaque and Bonnet must solve the case while keeping the holiday spirit alive.

Silent Hearts by Gwen Florio
Books for Tea

A stirring novel set in Afghanistan about two women—an American aid worker and her local interpreter—who form an unexpected friendship despite their utterly different life experiences and the ever-increasing violence that surrounds them in Kabul.

The Winters by Lisa Gabriele
Books for Coffee

After a whirlwind romance, a young woman returns to the opulent, secluded Long Island mansion of her new fiancé Max Winter—a wealthy politician and recent widower—and a life of luxury she’s never known. But all is not as it appears at the Asherley estate.

Wunderland by Jennifer Cody Epstein
Books for Tea

An unflinching exploration of Nazi Germany and its legacy, Wunderland is a at once a powerful portrait of an unspeakable crime history and a page-turning contemplation of womanhood, wartime, and just how far we might go in order to belong.

My Latest Le Tote (+ Outfits)

I’ve had a subscription to the clothing rental service – Le Tote – for over a year now(!) and I realized I’ve never done a dedicated post about it. What the what!?

You can bet your bottom dollar that if I commit to anything for over a year it has the Beth Berger stamp of approval. But, in case you’re curious, let me tell you why I love it so much…

I. hate. making. decisions! Ok…so that probably wasn’t the reason you were expecting. I also love clothes, love having new things to wear, and…truth be told…HATE shopping. Le Tote curates a bunch of cool clothing items and accessories for me to add to my virtual closet. Then they select a few of these picks and ship me a box of goodies. I wear them once or twice, return and repeat! So I get new outfits on the regs without any of the work. Score!

[MORE DETAILS and FAQ’s HERE]

Where does my hatred of decisions come in? Well, not only do I not have to shop and decide what to buy…but I also don’t have to make as many outfit decisions. I just pair my Le Tote pieces with my preexisting, streamlined wardrobe and I’m out the door!

Here’s my most recent tote + a few of the outfits I put together this week to show ya what I’m talkin’ about…

Le Tote Haul —

Embroidered Blouse from Octavia

Tie Knot Tee from Summer & Sage

Stitch Detail Pants from Hayes

Fabric Ball Necklace from Ava

Turquoise Short Pendant from The Sak

Le Tote Outfits —

With this haul, I was able to put together a couple more casual outfits as well as a few biz-cas options. Now I can send back the pieces (no laundry necessary!) and wait for my next goodies to come in the mail. (Did I mention I also love mail? Add that to the PRO column, lol.)

Outfit #1

Outfit #2

Outfit #3

Outfit #4

Oh, and if you fall in love with a piece you can purchase it at a pretty deep discount for the quality of item you’re receiving! (Remember: these items have been worn by other ladies out there. So the discount isn’t due to quality, it’s because they’re used. Which I’m kinda into, but others might take issue with.) I try to keep a pretty minimal core wardrobe but there have been a few pieces I couldn’t let go of — like a high quality pair of yoga pants, a denim jacket, and that sweet lil red purse pictured above!

Anywho, enough of my rambling! If you have questions about Le Tote, please feel free to drop them in the comments below and I’ll do my best to answer them/give you my honest opinion.

AND if you’d like to check out Le Tote for yourself…

P.S. Let me know if you’d like to see more posts like this. I’d be happy to share future totes!
P.P.S. Fuh real tho…go get a free box! xoxo

July Unboxed: Beauty Box 5

Hi friends! I recently received another box from Beauty Box 5 and would love to share the contents, if you’re game. In case you missed previous postsBeauty Box 5 is a subscription service that sends 5 new beauty products straight to your doorstep each month. And I know, I know. Today is the last day of August and this is my box from July but I actually didn’t receive it until this month (there were some shipping issues).

The boxes are $12/month ($10 if you order quarterly and $9 if you pay for the whole year!) and are guaranteed to include at least $35 of product. The brands are a mix of drugstore tried & trues, innovative indie, and deluxe…and so far the majority of products included are full size. Oh, and did I mention FREE SHIPPING on U.S. subscriptions? Ka-ching!

Here’s everything that was included in the July box! 3 out of 5 of the products were full size (+ they sent me a free makeup brush because of the shipment snafu!). Let’s take a look…

luseta beauty argan oil hair masqueArgan Oil Hair Masque from Luseta Beauty (Retail: $29 for full size)

This is the perfect product to restore hair after a summer full of sun, salt, and chlorine. It also protects against future heat damage and smells amazing!

Line & Seal Eyeliner in PLUM from Styli-Style (Retail: $6.50)

I’m not usually an eyeliner girl but something about this pretty plum color makes the whole thing feel a bit more approachable. It has a gel-like formula and glides on smooth.

manna kadar illuminatorGlo Illuminator from Manna Kadar Cosmetics (Retail: $29 for full size)

I don’t think I’ll be mixing this with my base (too much dewiness for me) but I love it dabbed on cheekbones for a subtle shimmer. Gotta hold on to that summery glow!

seraphine botanicals lip crayonQuince + Crimson Crayon from Seraphine Botanicals (Retail: $24)

This is a one stop shop product perfect for travel because it can be used as lip AND cheek color. They’re not lying about the long-lasting part either. This stuff is made to STAY.

Nail polish in COPACABANA CORAL from Nanacoco (Retail: $3.95)

I definitely have time for one last round of BRIGHT polish before I start pretending Miami actually has seasons and opt for more autumnal hues. My toes will be pool ready in no time!

BONUS: Cut the Crease brush from BB5

I was super excited to receive this extra treat as I’ve been wanting to get a new brush for eye makeup. SCORE!

For sneak peeks and monthly product info, follow Beauty Box 5 on Instagram.

Overall, I love that Beauty Box 5 includes self-care treats – like the hair mask and nail polish – alongside makeup I’d never think to try and end up loving (I’m looking at you purple eyeliner). Which product would you be most excited to try out? Do you have a favorite makeup subscription service? I would totally recommend Beauty Box 5 (even if you’re product clueless like me!).

May Unboxed: Beauty Box 5

Beauty Box 5 May 2017

Hi friends! I recently received my fourth box from Beauty Box 5 and would love to share the contents, if you’re game. In case you missed previous posts, Beauty Box 5 is a subscription service that sends 5 new beauty products straight to your doorstep each month.

Ka-ching!

Here’s everything that was included in the May box! 5 out of 5 of the products were full size (+ a mini bonus item!) for a total retail value of about  fifty buckaroos. Let’s take a look…

24 Hour Liquid Lipstick in RIOJA from Cougar Beauty (Retail: $12.99)

This is the perfect color to dress up a little black dress or a crisp white shirt tucked into jeans. The formula is long lasting and it smells amazing! The perfect addition to any date-night look.

Exfoliating Body Scrubber from Daily Concepts (Retail: $5.00)

This scrubber is a great addition to my once-a-week skin exfoliating routine. It buffs away roughness and cleanses deeply with dual textures. And I love that there’s a label that fades when it’s time to replace.

Jumbo Eye & Lip Pencil in GOLD from Nanacoco (Retail: $5.50)

Not sure I’m brave enough to incorporate a gold top-coat on my lips, but I love using metallics on my eyes (especially in summer)! This gold hue can be used as a shadow or on the waterline as a liner.

Bare Necessities Highlighting Pencil from Jelly Pong Pong (Retail: $17.95)

I’m excited to use this product on the inner and outer corners of my eye to make myself look a little more awake (<- sleepy morning hack FTW!).

Mongongo Lip Conditioner from Jersey Shore Cosmetics (Retail: $10.00)

Chapstick is a beach bag ESSENTIAL. And this one smells like coconuts! Perfect. I love the all natural ingredients in this lip conditioner, but I would love it a bit more with the addition of some SPF.

BONUS: Arnica Salve from De La Cruz

I wasn’t expecting a sixth item at all! Arnica Salve can be used for relief of bruises, minor burns, chapped skin and simple scratches. I wonder how it would do on mosquito bite scars? I’ll give it a go!

For sneak peeks and monthly product info, follow Beauty Box 5 on Instagram.

Overall, I love that Beauty Box 5 includes everyday essentials – like the exfoliating body scrubber and lip conditioner – alongside special occasion makeup. Which product would you be most excited to try out? Do you have a favorite makeup subscription service? I would totally recommend Beauty Box 5 (even if you’re product clueless like me!).

April Unboxed: Beauty Box 5

Beauty Box 5 April 2017

You guys! I recently got my third box from Beauty Box 5 and would love to share the contents, if you’re game. In case you missed previous posts, Beauty Box 5 is a subscription service that sends 5 new beauty products straight to your doorstep each month.

Ka-ching!

Here’s everything that was included in the April box! 4 out of 5 of the products were full size for a total retail value of about  45 buckaroos. Let’s take a look…

Highlight Fan Brush from BB5 (Retail: $12)

This brush is super soft and the perfect shape for applying all sorts of products (I found this video to be a helpful tutorial). This versatility allows me to apply the accompanying blush as a highlighter, too!

Rose Gold Lash Curler from Sweep (Retail: $15.99)

While I may not be game for falsies (see: last month), an eyelash curler I can handle. Since I didn’t currently own any, I was happy to receive one (and in such a pretty rose gold no less!).

Gold Bobby Pins from Did Hair (Retail: $8.50)

As someone who pretty much lives in a ballerina bun, I can always use bobby pins! The true shade of gold isn’t picking up in the pic but trust me–these will elevate my fave everyday hairstyle.

Blush in SPOILED from Be a Bombshell (Retail: $6)

The color of this blush looks lovely on the apples of the cheeks but also makes a pretty highlighter when dusted on the high points of the face. I love any product that can play double duty!

Vitamin-C Sheet Mask from Jean Pierre (Retail: $12.99 for set of 5)

This sheet mask contains Vitamin C extracts which help to brighten, regenerate, and hydrate skin. I can’t wait to #treatmyself to this at-home spa treatment.

Overall, I love that Beauty Box 5 includes hair and skin-care products along with new-to-me makeup. Which product would you be most excited to try out? Do you have a favorite makeup subscription service? I would totally recommend Beauty Box 5 (even if you’re product clueless like me!).

March Unboxed: Beauty Box 5

You guys! I recently got my second box from Beauty Box 5 and would love to share the contents, if you’re game. In case you missed my last post, Beauty Box 5 is a subscription service that sends 5 new beauty products straight to your doorstep each month.

The boxes are $12/month ($10 if you order quarterly and $9 if you pay for the whole year!) and are guaranteed to include at least $35 of product. The brands are a mix of drugstore tried & trues, innovative indie, and deluxe…and from what I’ve seen of past boxes (yes, I’m low-key obsessed with unboxing videos on YouTube, lol) the majority of products included are full size. Oh, and did I mention FREE SHIPPING on U.S. subscriptions? Ka-ching!

Here’s everything that was included in the March box! 4 out of 5 of the products were full size for a total retail value of about 50 buckaroos. Let’s take a look…

sweep lash helperLash Helper from Sweep (Retail: $9.99)

This innovative tool helps to perfectly place false eyelashes. Since getting those suckers on seems to require surgical precision, it’s no wonder such an instrument would prove beneficial. (I’d still probably stab myself in the eye.)

sweep lashes

Lashes from Sweep (Retail: $15.00 for set of 5)

These false lashes, in the “ELISA” style, are natural-looking and beautiful. Since falsies aren’t really my thing, I’m tucking these (and the accompanying tool) away for a future giveaway. #KeepYourEyeOut

Lash Primer from Manna Kadar (Retail: $24 for full-size)

I’d never tried a lash primer before receiving this product but it totally works! The creamy formula provides a nice base to increase volume. Very helpful for cheap mascara users. *raises hand*

bellapierre cosmetics glitterCosmetic Glitter in SPECTRA from Bellapierre (Retail: $15)

This would be really fun to add on top of eyeshadow for a night out. Extra glam! The accompanying card also recommends adding a little to a bubblebath for additional, all-over sparkle.

prestige cosmetics eyeshadowTrue Metals Eyeshadow in PEWTER from Prestige Cosmetics (Retail: $9.75)

I’ve been highly devoted to a bronze-y eyeshadow the last few months and I’m excited to switch it up with this new metal tint. This product is my stand-out fave of the whole box!

Which product would you be most excited to try out? Do you have a favorite makeup subscription service? I would totally recommend Beauty Box 5 (even if you’re product clueless like me!).

February Unboxed: Beauty Box 5

bb5-february-box

As you may remember from this post, receiving something exciting or unexpected in my mailbox brings me so much joy. And if you follow me on Instagram, you know my mailbox has been straight up killing it. I was especially excited to receive this box of goodies from Beauty Box 5 — a subscription service that sends 5 new beauty products straight to your doorstep each month.

Ka-ching!

Now, I don’t know much about makeup, you guys. I tend to stick with the few products I love and just call it a day. But I’m eager to branch out! That’s why I figured Beauty Box 5 would be something fun to try out. Instead of standing clueless in the drug-store, wondering what products to nab, they can do the thinking for me. Then, I can add their finds to my current collection and VOILA! I have a “capsule wardrobe” of makeup for the month. Genius, right?

Here’s everything that was included in the February box! 4 out of 5 of the products were full size for a total retail value of $38.50. Let’s take a look…

pink moisturizing lip mask from Jean Pierre CosmeticsPink Moisturizing Lip Mask from Jean Pierre Cosmetics (Retail: $5.00 for set of 5)

A mask for your lips? I’ve never heard of such things! But what a fun way to prep your pout — and take bathroom mirror selfies while you do. (Just me?) #treatyoself

Lip Glow from Style Essentials

Lip Glow in NUDE from Style Essentials (Retail: $4.00)

This lip glow is moisturizing and comfortable to wear with just the right tint of nude for everyday wear. Bonus: It smells like strawberries! I can already tell it’s going to be a new fave.

Unicorn Lippie from Tint Beauty

Unicorn Lippie in MAKE BELIEVE from Tint Beauty (Retail: $9.00)

The color of this lipstick is STUNNING. Luckily the ultra-pigmented, matte finish is long-lasting for extended fancy-times wear. Application is a bit messy for not-so-savvy makeup wearers like yours truly.

img_2504Unicorn Liner in MAKE BELIEVE from Tint Beauty (Retail: $7.00)

I’ve never really dappled in liners. But I gotta say, this little guy keeps your lipstick where it belongs and since the color is a perfect match it doesn’t look like you’re channeling a 90210 character.

Colour Hybrid from So SusanColour Hybrid in MARSALA from So Susan (Retail: $17.50)

The little card accompanying this month’s box boasts that this color looks great on every skin tone but I was hesitant. Could my skin pull off a bright berry, flushed look? Survey says: I love it!

P.S. I just watched Titanic last night (RIP Bill Paxton) and the Unicorn Lippie/Liner duo in Make Believe is SPOT ON the lip color Kate Winslet wears through most of the movie. Do with that information what you will. 🙂

Review: Vitafive Vitamin Subscription

review

Here’s the deal. I KNOW I feel better when I take vitamins. Remembering to take them consistently is something I always promise myself I’ll be better at. But the thing is, for YEARS, as hard as I tried I just couldn’t fall into the routine. Some brands gave me a stomach ache unless I swallowed them just the right time after eating a meal. I would miss the window once, twice, and then never pick them back up. Others I remembered to take for weeks…and then forgot to re-purchase once I hit the end of the bottle. I sorta resigned myself to this pattern.

But then I found out about vitafive. Holy smokes! Why didn’t someone think of this sooner? As you may know, I’m all about eliminating decision fatigue and automating aspects of life to use that brain space for more important things. I’ve found ways to do this with my money, my clothes, even my snacks! Why not my vitamins, too?

IMG_2340

IMG_2344

So, here’s how this genius system works! For about $1 per day vitafive will ship you a 4 week supply of gummy vitamin packs. You can either choose from one of their pre-formulated packs or create your own custom pack. I opted for the Essentials Pack which includes a multivitamin, Vitamin D3, and Omega 3. Other pre-formulated options include:

Beauty Pack – Biotin, Vitamin C, Omega 3

Active Pack – Vitamin D3, Calcium, CoQ10

Brain Pack – Omega 3, Vitamin D3

Heart Pack – Vitamin C, Omega 3, CoQ10

Sleep Pack – Multivitamin, Melatonin, Vitamin D3

Immune Pack – Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, Omega 3

(There are also packs for kids!)

health without hassle

IMG_2354

I love the convenience factor! Your daily vitamins are pre-packaged together for each day of the week so they’re all in one place and ready to go. This is absolutely perfect for tucking in your purse as you head out the door or packing in your lunchbox along with your food. And signing up for the subscription service means you don’t have to think about re-purchasing a bunch of different bottles at different times as you run out. You’ll simply receive a package with your next month’s supply!

And look how cute these little gum drop vitamins are! There’s something to be said about the convenience of a gummy, too. I’m not embarrassed to say that, even as an adult, swallowing pills isn’t all that fun. If there’s a way around it I’m all about it. It certainly helps that this particular option tastes delicious. So, they’re fun to take post-meal or as a little mid-morning “snack”. They’re also all gluten free and vegetarian (some are vegan, too!).

I definitely wouldn’t want to swallow a huge horse pill on the beach. A delicious dose of gummy vitamins? Yes, please!

I would recommend vitafive to ANYONE looking to live a little healthier, searching for consistency when it comes to taking vitamins, or seeking an easy and fun vitamin option!

And great news! Vitafive is offering Finding Delight readers 30% off their first box with the coupon code beth30 (all lowercase). Just enter in this code at check out. No commitment necessary. You can cancel any time. So check it out! And let me know if you do. I’d love to hear if you like these little brain space savers as much as I do!!!

Review: Graze Box

graze box

I’ll admit it. I can get a bit hangry… that is, the general annoyance with everything around and speaking to me that pops up whenever my tummy starts to grumble and there’s no food in sight. Once I figured this out about myself it was like a light-bulb moment and I resolved to approach everyday excursions prepared. Yet, there’s only so many lara bars and cuban crackers a girl can eat! I needed to up my snacking game. Which is why I was super stoked to stumble upon Graze.

Graze combines wholesome ingredients with knock-your-socks off flavors to create hundreds of different exciting snacks. They then send a selection of these snacks to your doorstep. You get to choose how many snacks to receive and how often. My first box of 4 came with strawberries and cream protein granola topper, zesty lime & red pepper salsa with pita chips, honeycomb flapjack, and twist of black pepper popcorn. The snacks were so delicious I immediately signed up to receive 8 snacks/monthly. I love that each snack features a handy health badge that let’s you know important information; like whether it’s a good source of fiber, contains 1/2 a cup of fruit, or is low-calorie, so you can feel good about your snacking choices. I also really appreciate that they’re portion controlled, which saves me from my natural inclination of getting down on a bag of trail mix only to realize I’ve eaten like 6 servings.

strawberries and cream granola

And the best part? They’re the perfect size and packaging to tuck inside my purse. So the next time Miami traffic keeps me out past my lunch-time I won’t start grumbling and griping. Gotta love convenience! Bring ’em along anywhere. Think: on a hike, in an airport, post workout, you get the picture.

pack a snack

sriracha crunch

You can order 4-snacks for $5.99 or 8-snacks for $11.99 and choose to have them delivered weekly, every 2 weeks or monthly. For high quality, wholesome snacks delivered to my door, I’ll happily pay $1.50 a pop. Similar snacks at Whole Foods or Publix would often run me much more.

Anyways, if you too are prone to getting a little hangry, I highly recommend checking out this service. Bonus: Graze will let you try out a 4-snack box for TOTALLY FREE with the code BETHB8RZP. If you love the service and decide to stick around? You’ll also receive your fifth box for free, too! Thank you so much, Graze. Happy snacking!
