Have any big plans for the holiday weekend? I recently nabbed an extra part-time job (no rest for the wicked!) and have opted to work for the majority of the time. However, I’ve been reading this book, which has inspired me to want to pick up a copy of Vogue and leaf through the pages by the pool. If only this tropical storm would get out the way!!! In the mean time, I’m excited to share more details of our wedding weekend. Back tomorrow with the rehearsal picnic! Stay tuned. Now onto some links…

How’s everyone enjoying their Thanksgiving week? We’ll be dining with one of Chet’s colleague’s family tomorrow, and the rest of the week I’m hoping to avoid the holiday shopping crazed crowds! We’re planning to get out of dodge completely on Black Friday and relax by Biscayne Bay. The weather in South Florida is perfect right now for just chilling outside for hours at a time. I can imagine the breeze by the water is going to be bliss. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving full of friends, family and food! And here are some links to celebrate this short week…

How’s your week faring so far? We got back from a lovely trip to New Orleans on Monday (you can read details HERE), and I’m already missing my sweet friends and the lovely Autumn breeze. It was so much fun! Now it’s back to the grind. I’ve got a hefty work assignment to conquer and I need to eat ALL of the vegetables to balance out the rich foods I indulged in. Haha! Enjoy your week, bundle up if it’s chilly where you are, and have a look at this week’s internet goodies…

What’s everyone up to this week? My birthday was Monday, and I was so happy to celebrate on Sunday with a trip to the beach, delicious seafood, and a Nutella birthday cake. As an October baby from a land-locked state, I never thought I’d be in the ocean on my birthday! It was crazy exciting! Thank you to all my friends and family for sending their love on my special day and of course to Chet for making my birthday, and every day, a wonderful adventure. It’s gonna be a good year! As always, I hope the rest of your week is full of fun and here are some links for today’s enjoyment…

What are you up to this week? Fall is here!!! Even in South Florida the weather has cooled a bit, the sunshine has that golden glow, and there’s a frequent lovely breeze blowing. This is my last week being in my twenties so I intend to eat autumnal desserts, plan a well-deserved beach trip, and make toasts over Gin & Ginger Ales that end in “R.I.P. 20’s!” Thanks to everyone who made this past year so wonderful. Now, bring on the big 3-0! Happy Wednesday to all of you lovely readers; please enjoy these links…

Let the sunshine in!

create your own sunshine

I’ve always associated thunderstorms with Autumn. Even though the sunlight casts a beautiful, warm hue in September and the temperature gives a reprieve, there’s always that looming possibility of a dark cloud rolling in. Never has this been more true than in South Florida. Out of no where the sky turns black as night and the cracks of thunder shake the furniture. Suddenly my sunny, cheerful, and PRODUCTIVE day comes to screeching halt. I’m all like, “Oh don’t mind me just gonna put my comfies back on at 2 in the afternoon. I’ll be in my bed watching YouTube videos on my laptop for the next 8 hours if anyone needs me! K, thanks!” Gloomy weather, dark skies, no chance of popping outside for a breath of fresh air to clear your head…it can be daunting. The only way through it – is to combat it! You’ve gotta radiate from within! This is when the idea of creating your OWN sunshine really rings true.

I’ve developed some tricks for creating my own sunshine. Of course, I love rolling out my mat and busting out a few yoga poses. I find heart-openers to be especially helpful on gloomy days. It’s almost like you can feel sunbeams shooting right out of your chest! I also enjoy going upside down. Something about all that blood flow to my brain gets me back in a creative and productive mood. Grabbing a little snack is another go-to. Lately, Chet and I have been having a goldfish cracker moment which always takes me back to Vacation Bible School days. And I can’t get enough of those cotton candy grapes. Grabbing a handful of either of these snacks puts an instant smile on my face. I also welcome other’s cheery dispositions to brighten my day by calling a friend or family member. There’s always the promise of an inside joke on the other end of the line. Finally, I LOVE LOVE LOVE lighting candles. My current favorites include Pomelo Paradise triple-wick from Bath & Body Works and the gorgeous new marble line from Target. Sunshine success!!!

But these tactics may not work forever, dear reader, so I’d love to know…How do YOU create sunshine? How do you turn the tables on Mother Nature?

Of course, you could always just listen to this song –

What are you up to this week? As you know, I’m still riding high from my recent vacation. I also got to attend Big Blue Madness last Friday and watch the UK Basketball team practice and whatWHAT?! Drake was there! As for this week? I’m excited for all things fall! Walks in cozy sweaters, evening TV marathons with a blanket and a pumpkin candle, I even concocted a pumpkin pie smoothie this weekend that I’m eager to recreate. Isn’t Fall such a gloomy-in-a-good-way season? Sort of nostalgic and broody. I keep thinking of this line from an Andrea Gibson poem…

“Autumn is the hardest season. The leaves are all falling, and they’re
falling like
they’re falling in love with the ground.”

Anywho, enjoy an appropriately autumnal week, and here are some links for you to enjoy…

What are you guys up to this week? With a new position (and new hours), I’ve been attempting to flip my schedule. While, in the end, I think it will be a fantastic change of pace, the past week has been trial-and-error in terms of finding effective sleep, eat, and work-out times. I consider myself a roll with the punches, flexible gal but in the end routines just make things so much easier. I am absolutely loving my new gig, though! What about y’all? Any big, new changes for you this season? I’d love to hear! Anywho, thanks so much for dropping by Finding Delight this week, and here are some posts I’ve recently taken a shine to…
